Next steps taken in North Lanarkshire urbanisation drive
June 6 2023
North Lanarkshire Council has opened the first in a series of exhibitions outlining the future shape of towns across the region.
Kicking things off in Wishaw Library today the authority will set out its Town Action Plan, the latest opportunity for residents to have their say on where their community is headed.
This will be followed by similar drop-in sessions for Airdrie and Motherwell from Wednesday and Thursday respectively, repeating weekly throughout the month.
Craig McIntyre, project co-ordinator with North Lanarkshire Council, explains: “The draft Town Action Plans aim to foster a vibrant mixed-use town centre economy that meets the evolving needs of the community.
“At their heart it’s about shaping the future of our towns and create thriving communities."
Town living design concepts have been prepared by Mast Architects with Norr overseeing the concept design for the community hubs. Ironside Farrar is responsible for the town vision concepts.
