May 29 2023
A £40m life sciences hub has opened its doors in Aberdeen, ushering in a new era of research commercialisation for the sector.
One BioHub by Opportunity North East will draw together all branches of biology to improve health and well-being outcomes, providing a space for scientists and investors to find commercial applications for new ideas and discoveries.
Designed by BDP and delivered by Robertson Construction the incubator space will nurture start-up and fast-growing businesses with on-site laboratories and offices.
BDP principal Christoph Ackermann commented: "The design and layout of the building enables and encourages research in the life science sector to co-locate and to collaborate on the Foresterhill Health Campus. The fully electric building supports life science innovation, economic development and the drive to net zero.”
At full occupancy, the building will house 400 staff and researchers from partner bodies including North East life science companies, the University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon University and NHS Grampian.
