Green routes & spaces to put Govan Graving Docks on the map

Early plans to reintegrate Govan Graving Docks into the fabric of the city with a riverside park and active travel route have been announced.

The waterfront green space would sit at the heart of a new pedestrian and cycle route extending east to west along the south bank of the Clyde, complementing efforts to create new homes, a visitor centre and a working dry dock.

Harry O’Donnell, chairman of New City Vision, said: “The riverside park and active travel routes are critical components in our vision for the docks as a thriving hub of activity for the community and city.

“To ensure the long-term vibrancy of the site, it is essential that the design proposals reflect the aspirations and desires of those who will use it, and we look forward to consulting members of the public and other interested stakeholders as we look to co-design the proposals."

Initial ideas will be presented at a 25 May workshop held at Riverside Hall between 14:30 and 16:30 and at The Pearce Institute between 17:30 and 19:30.

Perhaps New City Vision would like to finish its long-promised and only part complete masterplan at Gartloch Hospital before embarking on big new ventures hinging on public realm works that may also never happen?

Lets get radical and use this infrastructure for production / manufacturing and not just another area of wild flowers and public realm.

Limited funds that would be better spent elsewhere.
