'Pinched' skyscraper to bring life to the Kingston Bridge

CA Ventures have held a second consultation outlining the story so far in delivering a vertiginous apartment tower on the River Clyde.
A brownfield site at 82-90 Washington Street is the focus of design work by Hoskins Architects, who envisage a building of between 35 and 39 floors housing over 400 build to rent properties. Occupants will have access to a south facing walled garden within the podium and a winter garden at motorway height offering elevated city views. A residents lounge at high level adds to the available amenity.
In a consultation statement the applicant wrote: "At ground level, the building steps back from the boundary edge, creating a south facing public realm which will be activated by commercial and retail units encouraging an east-west connection across the site and serving the emerging neighbourhood.
"The podium addresses the existing warehouse scale of buildings on Washington Street. The tower will be seen in the round from across the city and aims to create an elegant form which will be a unique contribution to the Glasgow skyline. A ‘pinched’ form is in development, which is designed to catch the changing light in interesting and distinctive ways and sits in constrast to other more generic tall buildings, befitting its status as a key landmark and gateway for the city."
A key aspect of the proposals is the reinstatement ofa public thoroughfare through the Kingston Bridge undercroft. A formal planning application is expected in June.

The question should not be why but why not -- cheap win for the city if the Kingston Bridge can be animated by its surroundings.
Might stop the Transport 1400 mob / Anti Destination League from destroying a critical transport link.
If they get rid of the M8 then they will be after the railways next and then they will put the Clyde in a pipe.
However, the problem remains of unnecessary and soulless steel and concrete phallic extrusions being built by corporate lackeys to forever monetise little sheep with no agency in their lives.
Simply inhumane architecture.
