Netherton start-up facility to bolster manufacturing
May 9 2023
Renfrewshire Council has appointed Buccleuch Property as its development partner at the developing Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS) as it turns to the next phase of development.
The tie-up unlocks up to £7.6m towards the creation of a 3,400sq/m facility for start-ups and small businesses at the 52-hectare Netherton site, already home to the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland and Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre.
Sandy Smith, development director at Buccleuch Property, said: “We believe AMIDS is a great place to expand Scotland’s advanced manufacturing sector. Netherton is master-planned to accommodate businesses of all sizes and Buccleuch’s first action, working collaboratively with Renfrewshire Council and other stakeholders, is to deliver start-up and scale-up research and manufacturing space to meet demand from Scotland’s entrepreneurs and we will start work on these proposals immediately."
The manufacturing park is already up and running with features including a central square and a renewable energy heating network.
