Sole candidate Karen Anderson to serve as incoming RIAS president
April 20 2023
Karen Anderson has been named by the Royal Incorporation of Architects as the first holder of its newly established president-elect role, after emerging as the sole candidate to be nominated by her peers.
The new position, created to ensure a smooth transition of power, will see Anderson work alongside incumbent president Chris Stewart for a full year, before assuming the mantle of president for a further two-year term from June 2024.
The Anderson Bell + Christie founding partner and former Architecture + Design Scotland chair succeeds Chris Stewart in the hot seat after emerging as the only candidate to be nominated by members - ensuring her election by default when the decision is rubber stamped on 24 May.
Anderson said: “I am looking forward to supporting Chris Stewart as president-elect, and to spending time with members to discuss the issues that matter most to them and to architecture in Scotland.”
Anderson is also a founding partner of the design platform 'hirta'.
