Parkhead events space to activate London Road
April 17 2023
Plans for a purpose-built music venue at Parkhead in Glasgow's east end have been lodged by Stallan-Brand Architects.
The flexible 940-person gathering space would be suited to a variety of dual uses from dinners and weddings to fashion and food & drink showcases.
Located on part of an overspill car park and skirting a disused railway cutting off London Road at Celtic Park the footprint of G40 is dictated by its site constraints.
Featuring a roof terrace and amphitheatre-style steps spilling onto an external yard the venue would be advertised by large-format signage integrated within the facade.
In a statement, the practice wrote: "Stallan Brand are delighted to have submitted a planning application for a new events venue in the east end of Glasgow. The project will form a key part of the ongoing transformation of the Clyde Gateway area. The project will deliver a new, high-quality cultural destination for the city whilst making a positive contribution to the wider local economy.”
Profiled dark metal cladding has been specified with outsize gates opening onto the street for public and service access, activating a desolate section of London Road in the process.
