Hundreds of homes earmarked for Falkirk village

Persimmon has set out plans to deliver 453 homes as part of a mixed-use development at Kilsyth Road, in the village of Banknock.

Built around an existing nursing home the development site stretches to 65 acres of predominantly grass and scrubland, 28 acres of which will be retained as open space. Two new access roads will be formed, creating a circular link road through the site.

In a statement, Persimmon wrote: "Dwellings will be simple in form with pitched roofs and traditional fenestration. Primary elevations will address streets and lanes providing positive frontage. Frontage has been provided to areas of open space. Detailing is simple and traditional.

"The proposal will include 68 Social Rented dwellinghouses which meet the Falkirk Council affordable housing requirement to deliver 15% affordable housing."

A masterplan by IronsideFarrar makes provision for a public art and landscape strategy referencing the area's history as a colliery and brickworks.

Fighting talk -- Banknock as a Falkirk village?

No chance -- fly'est men in central Scotland more like plus more traffic for the already overstretched M80.

The Bing will be after you big time -- serious piece of education required with all that metropolitan nonsense.

Interesting that it is Persimmon who finally bit -- the project has been on the go for over 15 years -- back in the day the drainage being worked to the max to get all the new houses linked to existing infrastructure.
