University of Dundee Tower Building set to make an entrance
January 30 2023
The University of Dundee is pursuing lighting enhancements, a remodelled north entrance and accessibility improvements as part of an ongoing package of fabric repairs to its B-listed 1960s Tower Building.
Corstorphine + Wright has been brought on board to helm the work, which centres on a programme of facade renewal to improve fire safety and energy efficiency.
The phased programme includes new hard landscaping to improve the approach to improve the immediate environment with a controlled entry system to better meet the aims of the building to 'signal the entrance to the university'.
Recessed colour-changing lighting will also be installed to permit the building to be lit up for specific events.
The work follows the introduction of a new fire-rated cladding system and double glazing to the main tower in 2019.
