Jedburgh school makes way for 76 homes

Cruden Homes are set to give the public a say in the creation of 76 homes for social rent on the site of a former school in Jedburgh.

Howdenburn Primary is the focus of efforts following its demolition in 2020 with the migration of pupils to Jedburgh Grammar. This has freed up a 5.57-acre brownfield site which is to be opened up through a network of roads, footpaths and parkland.

A public consultation detailing the approach of Aitken Turnbull will be held from 18 January, setting out a mix of two to four-bedroom homes to be managed by Eildon Housing Association.

Rory Stephens of Cruden Homes commented: “The local community will have the chance to ask questions and provide feedback, which will play a part in shaping our scheme as we progress it."

Eildon has amassed a £137m war chest to fund the creation of new homes across the Borders until 2027.
