Work to build 89 homes within the grounds of Killearn Hospital is to get underway after Cala Homes completed the purchase of the brownfield site.

Pencilling in autumn 2023 for major site works the housebuilder will first carry out essential remedial and demolition works to the hospital, a process which could take up to nine months.

Stirling Council has already granted planning consent for the undertaking, which will deliver a mix of bungalows, terraces, semi-detached and detached homes set around a village green and play area.

Graham McNeil, land director for Cala Homes West, commented: “With the hospital having closed in the 1970s, the site has become run down and derelict so this presents a rare opportunity to achieve something truly transformative that will give the site a new identity."

Planned works in the Stantec masterplan include the creation of a new footpath and cycleway connecting to the village.

50 years of dereliction contributing nothing to public funds. this wouldn’t happen if the Scottish government introduced AGFRR

More dreary Monopoly box houses. Scottish house builders really are third rate. Cala is the worst.
