Falkirk Council deliberate on 500-home Polmont neighbourhood
October 24 2022
A major £120m development at Gilston Park, Polmont, is to go before Falkirk Council's planning committee tomorrow.
Property company Hansteen is seeking planning permission in principle for a 55.6-acre green field site, opening the door for Cala Homes to design and deliver approximately 500 new homes, a quarter of which will be affordable.
Gilmont Park is recommended for approval and will incorporate large areas of parkland as well as an urban centre hosting potential retail and commercial spaces. 49% of the total land area will remain as open ground, focusing on a central park and wetland fostering play, sport and active travel.
Ian Conway from Cala Homes commented: “Assisting in the overall regeneration of the site, the extensive greenspaces including linked parks, play areas and general amenities will also create new and enhanced habitat areas that will contribute significant environmental and social benefits for both the future residents and the wider local community.”
A range of infrastructure improvements is also planned, including an upgrade to junction 4 of the M9 and additional bus services.
