Templeton reimagining to lay the ground for a new creative hub

Glasgow's Templeton Business Centre, renowned for its ornate Venetian facade, is to embark on a new era with a light touch overhaul to position the listed landmark as a singular creative and commercial hub.
Low profile Gfivethree Architects are spearheading the transformation which will rely on selective physical alterations to maximise the utility of the business park.
This activity will centre on a poorly utilised interior courtyard which is set to become the focus for a major new slice of public realm off Glasgow Green that will permit improved wayfinding, accessibility and security while reducing conflicts arising from heavy goods traffic unloading at West Brewery.
Surfacing the industrial character of the former carpet factory the work incorporates small new build interventions to help tie together an ad-hoc agglomeration of buildings into a more cohesive entity by reinstating a public face to the complex in the form of a consolidated entrance and gatehouse. As the principal physical intervention, this will embrace a 'bold geometry' with a large format corten steel framed window addressing the street under an all-weather canopy and announced by an arrival totem.
Internally the provision of improved facilities and unified treatment of communal areas, including an overarching lighting strategy, to create a more consistent sense of place.
In a design statement, the architects wrote: "The Templeton Business Park suffers from a multitude of problems, both in terms of its perception within the city, and the physical building elements and public realm of which it comprises.
"One of the fundamental issues behind the lack of clarity to the existing user experience is the absence of any clear and easily distinguishable identity to the development and its constituent parts."
Rebranded simply as 'Templeton' the new look hub will adopt a new wayfinding strategy centred on 'urban markers' in the form of stylised stripes and chevrons to denote entrances.
A unified material palette of concrete tiles, charred timber, terazzo tiles, brick and corten steel will unify the complex

Nice renders, too, by the way. Realistic and not too high on the hipster count.
