Lenzie planning battle culminates in a trio of upscaled homes

The commuter town of Lenzie has received a new planning application to build three substantial homes following a tortuous planning process.

Originally subject to a housing application through Jewitt & Wilkie Architects last year, that scheme was rejected by the council's local review body - against the recommendation of planners.

Following a successful appeal the applicant, JGS Developments, had this decision reversed by the Scottish Government's planning committee, whereupon S2 Architecture has upscaled the planned properties to an enlarged repeatable design over three levels.

Finished in grey multi-brick under dark grey roof tiles with a feature glazed screen entrance the properties are marketed towards the luxury end of the market with incorporated triple car garages completing the rule of three.

Situated on vacant ground off Woodilee Road the trio of houses are set back the same distance from the street, respecting an exclusion zone around mature trees.

On one hand these look good however as I know the site I would suggest from the visuals they are going to have virtually no back garden as the site is not that deep!

ALarge number of trees were felled illegally on that site which have not been replaced. No house long should go ahead there until this is done.

Disgusted by the Scottish government decision after illegally felling trees and new ones replanted. Does this mean the new trees and the remaining ones will be removed? A very narrow piece of ground which will not accommodate what is visually shown here and will certainly not accommodate what is stated. . Due to the height will look out of place to the neighbours houses they will look into.

The approved house plans appear vastly different to the images accompanying the article - hard to believe its the same proposal!

The perfect homes for the beneficiaries of the Liz Truss government.
