Gartcosh to host a bottle cap manufacturing HQ

Closures Group, an Italian manufacturer of bottle caps, has chosen the emerging Gartcosh Business Interchange for the site of a new production plant.
Convery Prenty Shields Architects are leading design work on the facility, located on the site of a former steelworks at Craignethan Drive, which marries a factory and offices in one building.
The architects explained: "The proposal seeks to combine two building elevations languages:- that of an industrial factory, alongside a contemporary office. This is a reflection of the twin nature of the building as a flagship corporate headquarters but also a key production facility.
"The industrial portions of the building are largely driven by the performance of the production floor where the goal is to have large internal spans, clear of walls and columns. This has manifested in the elevation as a simple crisp form with simple and regular window openings to provide natural light into the production spaces. A simple shallow pitch roof form with two ridges completes this aesthetic.
"The office areas of the building are located at the eastern corner of the building with a contrasting cladding to the main production space and a more open window style that is better suited to office use."
Finished in pre-formed metal cladding panels the offices push outwards at the main entrance to create an angled curtain-wall glass corner.
