Ripple Ripple Rippling

The Architectural Association (AA) is pleased to present Ripple Ripple Rippling, a multisensory exhibition that foregrounds the backstage of China’s urbanisation, telling situated stories of the entangled flows of people and land. Curated visual, sonic and bodily encounters bring to light the hidden changes in Chinese rural homes and village landscapes that enable the floating labour force who sustain the country’s urbanisation.

The exhibition also reveals the transformative process of this work over 10 years and reflects on its evolving methods and media of communication, which interweave architecture, anthropology, filmmaking and performance. A house foundation installed temporarily on the corner of Bedford Square will host a programme of performances and events that complements a presentation of film works, drawings, photographs and field recordings in the AA Gallery.
