The Advanced Forming Research Centre
Located in Inchinnan and forming part of Strathclyde University’s extended campus, the AFRC is a beacon for engineering and manufacturing excellence. This high quality, purpose built facility is designed to meet the client’s aspirations for an iconic building offering a world class research facility for global companies in the aerospace industry.
The design focus was to create high quality flexible space that encourages collaborative working team working. Sustainability issues such as passive ventilation and lighting along with high performance fabric were significant factors in the design process. Also a challenging, key requirement for the Client is to achieve a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating. Currently the project is meeting the cost and programme targets along with the Client’s aspirations for sustainability.
