Speirs Locks Studios
A new teaching facility for the Royal Scottish Academy of music & Drama converted existing industrial units in Cowcaddens, Glasgow. To the north of the site four new top lit dance rehearsal studios are made, focused around a wood lined internal court with health and fitness facilities and teaching rooms.
At the southern end of the site is a new technical teaching facility including, scenery, timber, paint and wardrobe workshops as well as student teaching rooms and design studios all entered from Corn Street and focused on a social space with student common room.
The main intervention comes on Garscube Road which is overclad in a distinctive half round steel cladding system, with large areas of painted brickwork and signage.
