Esslemonts Menswear
Esslemonts Meanswear, which is located in a Victorian granite terrace in Aberdeen, wanted a contemporary refurbishment that avoided being clinical. McColl Architects extended the rear of the shop by six metres, shifted an existing level change and stripped out a suspended ceiling. The practice also upgraded the shop window and added a clerestory. The new interior has folded oak trays for the clothing and an oak storage wall which screens the changing rooms. Super Graphics and bands of different coloured marmoleum flooring and 2flat2C light by Modular give the shop a luxurious quality. Colin McColl set up practice in Aberdeen in February 2005.
