Bowling Arches
Rankinfraser were commissioned by Scottish Canals in 2014 to engage in the development of several projects focused around the Bowling Basin, located at the west end of the Forth and Clyde Canal.
The first phase of works relates to the railway viaduct arches as they become converted to retail units. The landscape works involve the creation of a new frontage to the arches, as well as the creation of two viewpoints overlooking the Clyde.
Further phases include the creation of a ‘gateway’ space to the wider site, a masterplan including residential housing, and the creation of a new linear park and cycle route above the historic viaduct.
