Clock Tower Housing Development

Clock Tower Housing Development
2015
The former Woodilee Hospital site in Lenzie is being redeveloped, different aspects of which macmon has been involved with: the refurbishment and extension of the listed clock tower and admin buildings on behalf of Charles Church; the design of affordable housing and a community shop for Sanctuary Housing Association; and, the design of commercial and business units up to planning approval stage.

The listed Clock tower is a centerpiece on the Woodilee site and has undergone extensive work to allow for 22 apartments incorporating a mix of 2 and 3 bedroom accommodation. It features a private resident courtyard which is accessed via the retained original stone archways. macmon chose a rational approach to building massing, being respectful of the scale and proportion of the listed buildings. The incorporation of quality brick and zinc cladding as external materials compliment the traditional ones as well as the texture of the stone, slate and lead finishes of the original buildings.
