Made this collage from a photograph I took of the Clydeport Finneston Crane. I imagined creating a penthouse apartment on top and within the wee crane operators 'house' on the top ... with a few alterations.
Nick Blair, Alistair Brand, Mark Hamilton and I's proposal for the RIAS Cowgate Library Competition which we narrowly lost out on to Benson and Forsyth. Having just left Gordon Bensons Architectural Unit that year we were motivated to show our teacher how far we had come. Great experience. Note out of the five hundred entries we where the only architects to propose keeping the Cowgate Church.
... some very beautiful student work detailed in architecture school websites
... will be lost in time like tears in the rain ...
Our local architect in Rio confirms that Brazils economy is getting stronger and stronger ... however many people still live in the Favelas. Some think that these communities are on the outskirts of the cities but in Rio because of the topography they occupy the steep hillsides within the city where road access is impossible. The Government is doing much good working in these communities however you can imagine the challenge.

Part of our submission for the Glasgow School of Art with Rafael Moneo. Rafael chose to showcase his Rhode Island School of Design as his case study project. Unfortunately we where not shortlisted but none the less we felt Moneo's architecture and approach would have a strong relationship with the MacKintosh building.
My colleague Adrain visited Rafael's studio which he said was wonderful and ruinous.

Working on the design of a small community project in Istanbul ...
Project has a split of simple cellular accommodation to more flexible and larger space that can be reconfigured depending on the different community events planned. The bigger spaces called social bubbles have walls that rotate to open in different formats. Good fun.

My wonderful wife Seonaid kidnapped me and dragged me on a cheap week to Tenerife. However I got my own back by taking time to explore the backside of the island ... Tenerife has a big backside. Seonaid claims however that it is not normal to spend time taking photographs of rusty tuna tins and local graffitti. Rubbish.

The simplicity of the tower within the landscape and the graphic 'star plan' of the surrounding defensive wall makes this little castle truly sculptural.
