Welcome to my new blog! A new blog was born, one more about sustainably of thousands, but here at Urban Realm, I’ll try to focus on Latin America, with some interviews with architects, urbanists, and ecology visionaries worldwide, some of them in upcoming posts: Dion Neutra, Veronique Pittman; Aaron M. Renn; Ken Fisher; Richard Muller, among many others.
I must star writing on the definition of the word “Sustainable Cities” are a new concept in Latin America, or at least that seems regarding planning, development, literacy cities, I must name this as urban “ecophilia” which have three different categories: environment, socioeconomically relationships and human subjectivity to must help the emphasis to examine the human conduct and their habitat, as well to take th3 sensible address toward the education and environment which is the way to make a better sustainable development and neighborhood and the poverty eradication (capabilities) and to have a better harmony of the individuals and their cities, and to understand how the development contributes to build a healthy habitat inside the urban space in the social values inside the global region.
The cities where we live are constituted by a great geographical zone in which many human groups are settled in continue cooperation of activities and that have financial, political and cultural inquiries of nature very diverse and that we call as a whole: “Urban Collectivity in Development towards the global evolution environment”.
Most of the world cities currently are taking new measure and studies to build good neighborhoods, especially in the Western Hemisphere. In a few words, a sustainable city would be a city which can generate sufficient revenue to provide basic health care and other socio-economic facilities to its citizens, is self sufficient in energy production, and is not only environmentally friendly in terms of infrastructure development and resources utilization but also in its ability to protect its citizen from natural disasters.
Favelas in Brazil are a good example of migration and uncontrolled urbanization, and the government have a hard task to provide basic facilities of life to such Brazilian people like having clean water, proper sanitation, among others facilities, and here is when eco-friendly urban models starts to build in Latin America. The sustainable city concept would thus require good planning and strategies to protect its citizen from natural disasters.
Sustainable cities would be an ambitious plan in Latin America and such initiatives are becoming vital needs to promote eco-friendly sustainable cities, which will not only provide healthy living spaces for their citizens but also will help them protect from weather extremes.
