We hit peak student numbers a few years back and overseas student numbers fell by 5% this year. Together with this being in an odd run-down area and not that close to Glasgow, Strathclyde or G-Cal, I wonder how successful this will be. Architurally it has made no attempt to blend in with surrounding buildings.

It is close to the conservatoire and GSA, though. There is still a huge shortage of student accommodation in Glasgow

There is still a shortage of student accommodation, and I believe that Glasgow Uni is taking an extra 4%ish. It is in close proximity to GSA, which is increasing its intake by a third, and the royal conservatoire.

peak numbers and overseas students might be falling but Glasgow has less than 10% dedicated student accommodation provision. and there's a uni campus 2 blocks over you might have heard of - the mac? and 'blend'....sigh.

I only count 7 storeys, the top 6 appear to be practically invisible....so does that make it 13 storeys??? I think we deserve the truth!

I just can't get over the fact that the portico of the wonderful Elgin Place Church by John Burnet was needlessly destroyed and has now been superseded by something so utterly unremarkable. http://www.theglasgowstory.com/image/?inum=TGSA05309
