South Ayrshire Council investigate retention of Ayr Academy

The famous secondary is currently in process of relocating to a new build school at Craigie, freeing up its existing base for alternative uses – potentially as Ayr Grammar Primary.
Sketch designs for the overhaul detail a multi-use games facility, nursery and dining facilities as well as new social spaces.
Councillor Margaret Toner, lifelong learning portfolio holder, said: "The architects are working towards creating a learning environment which will inspire primary school children and this has to be our main objective. This is an exciting opportunity and would make a huge difference to the lives of everyone involved. We need to ensure that pupils, parents, staff and the parent council are on board with the idea.
"There will be statutory consultation with all stakeholders as required by law which is likely to begin in February 2016, but in the meantime we would welcome informal feedback on the proposals."
If given the all-clear the new school could be up and running by early 2019.

It is hoped the plan will secure the long-term viability of the historic town centre school

Glad the school will remain a school and not sold to be turned into flats. Who are the architects working on this project?
