Work completes on £5.2m Galashiels Transport Interchange
August 7 2015
A £5.2m transport interchange in Galashiels has been unveiled by Scottish Borders Council ahead of its formal opening to the public on Monday.Serving as a gateway to the Borders railway, when services commence on 6 September, the transport hub will double as a bus station and gateway to the town centre.
A range of ancillary services will be offered to the public including tourist information, a travel centre and a café with office space and conference facilities located above.
Councillor David Parker commented: “This is a landmark building for Borderers and visitors using the new railway from 6 September, and will also play an important role in helping the Council achieve its long term aim of promoting better connections between all means of sustainable transport.”
The interchange was designed by D5 Architects and Buro Happold with Morrison Construction serving as main contractor.
It has taken over five years to deliver the interchange since the site was selected back in February 2010

Someone give this building counselling, it's got a bit of an identity crisis going on - jaunty angular bling or austere supermarket box?

The added wonky angle is for what purpose exactly? Oh, because the architecture is so poor that a 'gimmick' was needed to draw attention away from it.
Oh well, I'm sure it'll be loved the RIAS -- I mean, as long as it doesn't resemble anything remotely beautiful............
