Demolition of Cumbernauld high-rises gets underway
May 27 2015
Sanctuary Cumbernauld and Safedem have begun demolition of the first three of twelve tower blocks in the town as part of a modernisation drive that will see 111 new homes built on the land.Bruce House, Buchan House and Douglas House on Allanfauld Road are being levelled by a high-reach crane in the first phase of a £75m project to clear all tower blocks from the town skyline.
Rubble from the former towers will be treated and crushed before being used to level the site.
Councillor Sam Love, North Lanarkshire Council’s convener of housing & social work services, commented: “These Seafar towers were well known local landmarks and will hold fond memories for many who stayed in them over the years, but they were in desperate need of replacing.
“The council is delighted to be supporting Sanctuary’s plans and I’m sure the people of Cumbernauld will be looking forward to the new homes being built.”
The site should be cleared by December allowing new housing to move on-site in early 2016, completing by 2020.

Is Millcroft road and greenrig etc on the this list of 12 it is an eyesore, and falling into bad state of disrepair. It either needs the council to sort it out like immediately or this demolishing. Providing the residents don't loose out of course.
