Keppie to deliver £333m Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre
Keppie Design has been appointed as delivery architect for the £333m Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre after the project was given the go-ahead by councilors.

A joint venture between the city and Henry Boot Developments the project will be built at Bucksburn as part of the Rowett North master plan for land south of Aberdeen Airport and will include three hotels, an energy centre, 60,000 sq/m of office space together  6,000 sq/m of parkland and parking.

Keppie director Richard MacDonald said: “Keppie is thrilled to be architect for this unique project and I look forward to realising the vision of creating a world class facility for Aberdeen.”

Nick Harris, Henry Boot’s Scottish director, added:  “… the new conference centre and associated facilities will be developed with the ambition to make it the most sustainable facility of its kind in the UK.

“It’s vital that creativity and sustainability are key drivers in the project so that the end product will leave a lasting legacy for the city, its residents and the hundreds of thousands of visitors who frequent it each year for both business and leisure.”

Where did Keppie come from, I thought this was a Sasanbell project?

I have this comment from SasanBell Neil:

“SASANBELL were the original concept architect who supported Henry Boot Developments with their bid through the competitive dialogue period, securing preferred development partner status with Aberdeen City Council in January 2014. SASANBELL were appointed to produce the Masterplan for the entire North Rowett Site and the Concept Design (RIBA Stage 2) for the New AECC.

SB completed their commission during December 2014.”

I take it the designs shown above are by Keppie and not Sasan&Bell?
They look very different from the previous publications.
