Scott Sutherland students display temporary festival hub designs
Students at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment are displaying a range of designs for a temporary festival hub on Aberdeen’s Castlegate as part of a planned visual arts event in the city.

Briefed to design a hub and information portal for Look Again 2016, the Covell Mathews Architects sponsored competition will see eleven shortlisted designs put to a public vote with the winning design set to be built for next year’s festival.

Utilising low-cost and recycled materials the chosen hub will be a focal point for young artists.

David Vila Domini, architecture lecturer at RGU, said: “The designs have to meet specific requirements such as housing an information point, workshop space, screenings, talks and tours.

“It must have the capacity to house up to 35 people and should contrast and respond to the existing architecture of the Castlegate area so there is a lot for the students to consider.”

Shortlisted designs will be on display at Seventeen, Belmont Street, from 8-12 April.
