Work gets underway on city centre Ibis Hotel

This will see a glazed rooftop extension and plant area added to the unlisted 25,000sq/ft Edwardian office block with existing stonework cleaned and repointed where necessary.
The £8m project is being funded by Maven Capital Partners after the derelict property was snapped up at auction for £560k before utilising the governments Business Premises Renovation Allowance (BPRA), designed to encourage the re-use of empty buildings.
Set to open in September the CM Architects and ICA designed hotel supercedes earlier plans to convert the property into flats.
Redefine BDL will operate the hotel on behalf of Ibis.
A restaurant and bar will be provided in the ground floor public area
The French hotel operator is giving its rooms a Glaswegian theme

Nice to see the French have a sense of humour. Seems not bad given it can only be reconfiguring of an existing building.

Beautiful building. Horrible cold looking uninviting bar. Is this the best they can come up with? Not be tolerating there. Looks like a factory/ warehouse . All that is missing are crates and fork lift trucks. So unimaginative and cheap looking.
