Dundee V&A nets £5m funding boost
March 26 2014
Dundee’s V&A project has taken a step toward realisation after it was awarded £5m of National Lottery money by Creative Scotland to support delivery of a £45m international centre of design, drawn up by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.V&A at Dundee director Philip Long, said the announcement meant they were ‘steadily moving towards our funding targets’, adding: “We look forward to working closely with Creative Scotland on the delivery of truly innovative activity that nurtures, promotes and inspires contemporary design creativity across the country.”
Janet Archer, CEO of Creative Scotland, added: “Our support will enable an exciting contemporary offering to local, national and international audiences, welcoming the world's best designers to Scotland, building on the strong design talent that exists here and ensuring a lasting design heritage for this country in years to come.”
The Scottish Government has separately pledged £15m to help fund the build with a further £9.4m pledged by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Perhaps the organisers of Wimbledon should consider moving the tournament to the courts shown in the video. They look brill!

You're joking of course. The video makes Dundee look like the outskirts of Los Angeles or some Spanish indistrial town.

Its just aswell we have florida style sunshine and a warming planet up here in dundee to sutain these wide open spaces adjacent to North Sea river estuary. If you look closely at the animation it even shows, wait for it...an urban beach complete with deck chairs.

Well done on the funding.
Not sure who they got to do the animation though. It's sweeping cameratastic!
Felt a little dizzy by the end.

A V & A and they don't even have a decent theatre. What happened to the campaign to renovate and reopen the Kings theatre?
