Dunfermline Museum & Art Gallery to move on site

BAM Construction has been confirmed as main contractor for a £6.8m museum and art gallery in Dunfermline by hub East Central Scotland. The first dedicated museum in the town it will narrate the history of the Kingdom of Fife and Scotland’s ancient capital.Dunfermline Museum & Art Gallery will include a café, offices, children’s library and gallery space which will conjoin a B-listed bank and library with a glazed extension and landscaping.
Viewing galleries and an overhead walkway will be incorporated into this space, offering elevated views of the historic town.
Neil McCormick, chief executive, hub East Central Scotland said, “The project is the latest example of a public and private sector partnership which is delivering major new community facilities across Fife with associated benefits including local employment initiatives, training opportunities, and involvement of SME’s”.
Work is expected to commence on the Richard Murphy designed building within the next few months for completion by 2016.
