Indicative design for Dunoon’s Queens Hall approved
December 17 2013
Dunoon’s CHORD board has approved stage C designs prepared by Parsons Brinkerhoff and Malcolm Fraser Architects for the redevelopment of Dunoon’s Queens Hall - designed by BMJ Architects in 1958.Commissioned to transform the ‘time expired’ facility into a modern performance and events space the team will create private function spaces as well as areas set aside for a library and learning.
A public reception area, shop, play area and café will also be built alongside office facilities for Skills Development Scotland.
This is intended to complement on-going work to regenerate the adjacent pier and public realm to unlock further investment and development along the waterfront, town centre and wider Cowal Peninsula.
Detailed design work for the project, including finishes and colour schemes, are currently underway with finalised proposals set to be unveiled to the public early in the New Year.
