Southern General office building plans submitted
October 21 2013
BMJ Architects have submitted plans to erect a new office building within the Southern General Hospital campus.Situated alongside an existing teaching and learning facility the new block will provide open plan administration space for consultants, nurses and secretaries alongside a number of ‘pods’ for private conversations.
Informal seating will also be arranged around access points to encourage social interactions and to bring together visitors and users.
The simple rectilinear structure will be faced in black cladding in an effort to harmonise with the competing materials palettes of neighbouring buildings and will incorporate a link bridge to the neighbouring block.
Two central light wells will circulate fresh air and natural daylight through the triple floored structure.
