Morgan Sindall appointed to build £8m Forth Primary
South Lanarkshire Council has appointed construction services company Morgan Sindall to build the new £8m Forth Primary School, Forth Village.

Designed by Aedas the 31,200sq/ft school replaces an existing school building, which will remain in use throughout the works, and will provide eight classrooms, a public library, nursery, community space and sports pitch

Eddie Carr, area director at Morgan Sindall, said: “Schools are more than just a place to educate children, they are often the heart and hub of a community. This inspiring and modern school campus will provide an excellent place to learn and the new facilities will boost community life in Forth village.”

The new school is scheduled to open its doors in spring 2014 whereupon the existing school will be demolished and the site landscaped.

I hope this is just an unfortunate snapshot image of a more inspiring overall building. Given some of the other good things happening in the world of primary school design at the moment (including elsewhere in South Lanarkshire), surely the youngsters of Forth village deserve more than this Travel Lodge lookalike to launch their formative years.
