Aberdeen’s St Nicholas House set for New Year tear down
Work to demolish Aberdeen City Council’s former HQ, St Nicholas House, is to begin in January following the decamp of staff to the former Marischal College across the road.

It is expected that the site will be cleared for redevelopment within six months.

The 14 storey tower block was designed by Aberdeen City Architects Department in 1968 and encompasses the historic Provost Skene’s House, complicating the demolition process.

Aberdeen’s move follows a similar decision by Councilors in Dundee to rid their skyline of a similarly unwanted sixties relic.
