Page\Park submit Kelvingrove bandstand refurbishment plans
Glasgow Building Preservation Trust has submitted plans to conserve and repair an abandoned bandstand in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow.

Designed by Page\Park Architects the £1.5m scheme will entail repair work to the bandstand itself along with an adjacent amphitheatre as well as a minor extension to ensure DDA compliance.

Toilets will also be introduced alongside new seating to rear terraces of the category B listed arts & crafts building, which was designed in 1924.

Conservation Architect Simpson & Brown describe the current structure as being in very poor condition, noting that: "The entire tiled roof will need to be stripped so that comprehensive repairs can be made to the sarking and structure of the roof."

The plans follows Historic Scotland's decision to release funding for the scheme back in April.

That looks like Usain Bolt is going to be awarded a gold medal in the refurbished bandstand.
