Clyde footbridge submitted for planning
Clyde Gateway has submitted plans for a new £4.9m masterplan for the Cuningar Loop, in Glasgow's east end..

It incorporates a £1m footbridge rocured by Glasgow City Council, a single span structure will connect a new woodland park, masterplanned by Austin:Smith-Lord, to the existing footpath and cycle network and includes outdoor pursuit and recreational facilities.

The bridge has not yet been designed but will soon be put out to tender.

It follows separate plans, also by Clyde Gateway, to connect the communities of Shawfield and Dalmarnock with a similar 'smart bridge', reducing walking time from the former to Dalmarnock Station, which is itself subject to a revamp, to less than 10 minutes.

This bridge has been designed by Halcrow and is pictured on the right.

Subject to approval, work on the pedestrian link could commence before the year is out for completion in 2013.

Sorry guys....you've got your facts a bit wrong here. This particular bridge links Dalmarnock (at the foot of Carstairs Street) and Shawfield (at the location of the existing Industrial Estate). It is NOT associated with the Cuningar Loop.

Thanks Jim, Tom -

The story should be disentangled now.
