Scottish Design Awards winners revealed
The architects behind the new Hillhead Primary School in Glasgow have won Scotland’s most prestigious design award.

The presentation of the Architecture Grand Prix was made to Glasgow-based JM Architects at the Scottish Design Awards last night.

The glittering ceremony, which took place in Glasgow’s Radisson Blu Hotel, celebrates the best of Scottish architectural genius.

The Awards, now in their fifth year, are sponsored by Urban Realm, Scotland’s premier architecture magazine.

A panel of distinguished judges, chaired by Jim Heverin, an associate director of the world-renowned Zaha Hadid Architects,
considered entries in more than a dozen categories (complete list below).

The Grand Prix is presented to the design which the judges felt was the most outstanding.

John Glenday, Editor of Urban Realm said: “On behalf of Urban Realm I would like to congratulate JM on their well-deserved win.

“This year was a particularly rich one for the education sector which I am sure will make JM’s triumph all the sweeter.”

Elsewhere Page\Park architects picked up the coveted architectural practice of the year gong following a remarkable year which saw completion of the Scottish Natural Portrait Gallery, the Centre for the Scottish War Blinded, St Andrews University and the University of Warwick.

Why is Wexford City Council Offices registered as Buro Happold when it was designed by Robin Lee Architecture?

I thought it was NORD
Perhaps there was a falling out ?

==Updated==

Wexford County Council HQ was designed by Robin Lee Architecture, but the practice is London-based (hence no Scottish Design Awards entry).

Buro Happold (Glasgow office) did the environmental services.

Nord LLP changed its name to Robin Lee Architecture in 2011

Alan Pert now runs Nord Architecture Ltd.

According to the Architects Journal it was Robin Lee Architecture. Beautiful Project and well deserved but who gets the award, surely not Buro Happold?

Surely if it was designed by a London based practice - they shouldn't get a Scottish Design Award? Its also so typical of Artichokes to think that Engineers are not designers and therefore deserve Zero praise.

Well done Buro Happold!! You can design my Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery system any day!

Well done Buro Happold on picking up your awards this year, thoroughly well deserved indeed, I hope you had a great night!

I have to agree with Walt Disney, without Engineers and exemplar ones such as Buro Happold then Architects would struggle to deliver such innovative and fantastic buildings. Stop moaning and celebrate the efforts of all involved.

Agreed, many projects would be struggling without Buro Happold expertise, including this one. Well deserved and congratulations to BH

Sorry not to share the general euphoria, but it seems to be to be another case of the usual suspects (and a primary school which looks like a car park with a sedum roof, and contributes neither to the town nor the park.) You can't have an awards ceremony in Scotland without Page & Park and Glasgow City Council. As for Buro Happold, well, fine, but what I want to know is did they manage to charge the engineers' time for the award ceremony? Now that would have been ingenious.
