Developer sought for Pennywell and Muirhouse redevelopment

The City of Edinburgh Council are advertising an £80m contract to build 800 mixed tenure homes for sale and rent in the Pennywell & Muirhouse area of Edinburgh.Constituting phase two of the 21st Century Homes plan, which will deliver 1,400 homes for sale and rent across the city over the next eight years, the contract will also provide apprenticeship opportunities for locals.
The successful applicant will be required to comply with the existing planning permission as well as the blueprint set out in the Pennywell & Muirhouse design guide.
Mark Turley, Director of Services for Communities, said: “This is an exciting time for the people in Pennywell. The development is a housing led regeneration opportunity which will boost the local economy by providing new jobs in the construction industry as well as supporting local businesses.”
The project is scheduled to commence in 2013 for completion by 2014.
