Scottish Power eyes St Vincent Street for new Glasgow HQ
Scottish Power is said to be eyeing a gap site on Glasgow’s St Vincent Street for its new headquarters, consolidating its existing premises in the city.

The eyesore site at Charing Cross has lain derelict since 2008 when plans to erect a 39 storey tower by Elphinstone collapsed.

If successful the redevelopment would be rather more modest, housing around 220,000sq/ft of floorspace directly opposite Keppie’s planned St Vincent Plaza.

The 1.4 acre plot has been valued at £5m by agents.

Scottish Power's interest follows a breakdown in negotiations with Scottish Enterprise over an alternative site at 220 Broomielaw.

Something tall and bright right at the edge of the M8 would be a great visual advertisement for the modern, fresh, stylish metropolis Glasgow is becoming. As long as it's distinctive and in keeping with the vibe of the city.
