STO-on-the-wall
April 8 2009
STO’s wall insulation system has been used on Aberdeen’s Union Plaza office complex for Stewart Milne Developments.A contrasting dark glass and white render aesthetic was specified by architect Halliday Fraser Munro and delivered using a StoTherm classic cladding system.
A flexible acrylic base with decorative coating was applied to the steel frame to achieve a crisp effect that is claimed to be impact, crack and weather resistant whilst delivering high thermal insulation.
This approach is apparently near ubiquitous in Germany where it is said one in ten sq metres of façade surface is clothed in the material.
Completed in late 2008, Union Plaza is largely let to a variety of tenants.
