Bright future unlocked at Maryhill
April 2 2009
Works to revitalise Maryhill Locks by Elder & Cannon have stepped up a gear with the publication of masterplan proposals.Constituting the latest phase in an ambitious renewal of Glasgow’s canal corridor, the plans detail the long term transformation of the famous Locks and their integration with a host of individual projects.
The plans replace a swathe of sub standard inter war tenements with around 700 mixed tenure homes.
Centrepiece of the proposed development will be the Maryhill Locks Park, a high quality public space for locals to soak up the canal environment.
A first phase comprising some 35 homes for social rent by Maryhill Housing Association will commence shortly.
