Royal appointment for Children's Hospital
March 23 2009
BAM Construction Ltd have been appointed by NHS Lothian for its £150m Children’s Hospital.Set to open in late 2012, hospital authorities are to take advantage of a poor economy by driving a hard bargain for construction contracts and are currently discussing the contract to complete the final design and build of the new hospital, to be designed by Nightingales and BMJ.
The new Royal Hospital for Sick Children will replace the current Victorian facility with a new building next to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France.
Co-location to a single campus will allow medical staff to work closely with colleagues in both maternity services and adult services at the Royal.
NHS Lothian and the Scottish Government are committing £125m towards the new hospital on top of fundraising from a number of charities.
